Marking World Mental Health Day 2023

We’re pleased to announce the launch of our autumn series of workshops, Understanding self-harm available to professionals working with young people in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.

Our learnings from data and research is that prevalence rates for self-harm in the 10-25 age range is high and rising, with around 20% of all young people having self-harmed.

Since January 2022, Fullscope has been working with young people in Cambridgeshire to co-produce a response to the issues. The works comes under the wider Wave 4 suicide prevention work, managed by Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Public Health and funded by NHS England.

The young people we listened to told us that they wanted a better response to their self-harm and have worked with professional film-makers Boundary Pictures to create animated film, ‘Ask Me How I Am’. The film forms the basis for a series of workshops, which have been developed in collaboration with young people, mental health professionals, GPs, parents/carers and school staff.

“Together, we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of our young people, offering them hope, understanding, and the tools they need to thrive”.

Our ‘Understanding Self-Harm’ workshops are available to professionals working with young people in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, in person, for groups of up to 20 people. As a result of funding from NHS England, these workshops are offered for free.
